Restaurateurs and brothers Anthony and Julian Izzillo have launched Bar Benevento in Sydney’s CBD, which opens its doors for the very first time today. --- The pair are experienced operators, having launched Wildfire and de Vine Food and Wine, but their latest project is a partnership with Kosta Papanikitas (The Fermantalists) and Head Chef Tim Fisher. --- Perched right in the heart of Town Hall, the Italian eatery is located on the ground floor of the Adina Town Hall Hotel on the corner of Kent and Bathurst, and is serving breakfast, lunch, coffee, sweets and aperitivo until 3pm during weekdays. --- Bar Benevento is an homage to the Izzillo brothers’ father, and has been named after the city where he was born. “Our nonno came to Australia from Benevento in 1953, post war, and spent five years working and saving before he could bring our nonna, dad and uncle over,” says Julian. --- “So much of what we grew up eating came from those early years, when they started with nothing and slowly built up a life here, so bringing those flavours into Bar Benevento feels like a special way of carrying that story forward.” --- Fisher has put together a food offering inspired by Southern Italian dishes, with the ricotta and egg yolk ravioli with Strega-infused hollandaise sure to become a signature. There’s also tagliata steak and eggs and a breakfast antipasto with a 6-minute egg and gravlax. --- There’s plenty of pasta on the menu for lunch plus weekly specials as well as chicken cotoletta, panini and a selection of meats and cheeses. --- “We’ve tried to create hero dishes that haven’t been done in Sydney before, whether that’s boiling and baking our taralli like a bagel so it’s soft and warm for dipping, or swapping coffee for wild mint and saffron Strega in our tiramisu,” says Fisher. --- The drinks menu features plenty of Amaro, with the venue stocking more than 300 options sourced from around the globe, as well as wines from 20 Italian regions. --- Bar Benevento is open from 7am until 3pm Monday to Friday and from 7am until 11:30am on weekends. The venue will launch dinner service soon, with more info to come. --- Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Fusce ac ornare lectus. Beverage procurement platform eBev has been integrated into hospitality technology company Oolio two months after entering administration. --- The new structure will combine Oolio’s hospitality ecosystem, which connects more than 22,000 venues in Australia, with eBev’s supplier network of more than 1,000 suppliers and 70,000 products. --- The new Oolio eBev business brings together two businesses with complementary strengths. --- eBev enables venues to discover, order and manage beverages from multiple suppliers through a single digital platform, while providing suppliers with tools to manage their products, orders and customer relationships. --- Meanwhile Oolio provides a range of hospitality-specific POS, payments, ordering and hospitality technology solutions. --- eBev CEO Ian Harris said it was an "exciting new chapter" for the business. --- “Over the past decade, we’ve built a platform that connects venues and suppliers and makes that process dramatically easier," he said. --- "Joining Oolio gives us the opportunity to take that vision much further. Oolio has built an exceptional hospitality technology business with a genuine understanding of what operators need, and there is a very natural fit between our businesses.” --- Kris Satish, Group CEO of Oolio, said eBev’s capability represents a significant addition to the Oolio ecosystem, which now spans six separate businesses. --- “eBev has built something genuinely valuable in beverage procurement, with deep relationships across suppliers and venues and a strong understanding of one of the most important cost areas for hospitality operators,” he said. --- “Bringing eBev into the Oolio family is a natural extension of our ambition to give hospitality businesses technology that works better together. We’re excited about what we can build with the eBev team and, most importantly, what this will ultimately mean for our customers.” --- The integration aims to create a more connected technology environment for hospitality operators, reducing administration and improving visibility for venues. ---
The Redman family has announced its first Rouge Homme wine after re-acquiring the brand from Treasury Wine Estates in May. --- Officially being unveiled at a special launch dinner and tasting on 23 October, Rouge Homme Shiraz/Cabernet 2024 is the first Rouge Homme wine to be produced by the brand’s original makers since 1965. --- Redman Wines co-owner and fourth-generation winemaker, Dan Redman, said: “Rouge Homme has a special place in the heart of Coonawarra. Welcoming it back in the 60th year of Redman is especially meaningful - a full-circle moment. We’re often asked about the connection of Rouge Homme with Redman, and now the future is back in our hands. We can’t wait to release a limited edition medium bodied style, a blend like those wines that my grandfather and great grandfather used to make.” --- The labels are still being made, and Drinks Trade will update with updated imagery once available. --- Speyside single malt distillery The GlenAllachie is returning to Australia for the first time in more than two years, with The Whisky List appointed as official importer and distributor. --- Founded and led by Master Distiller Billy Walker since 2017, The GlenAllachie is regarded as one of Scotland’s leading independent distilleries and is known for rich, flavour-forward single malts, sherry cask maturation, and a commitment to bottling at a minimum of 46% ABV, natural colour and without chill filtration. --- The initial Australian range being brought in by The Whisky List will arrive in late October in time for the Christmas gifting season, and will include core age-stated, cask-strength, limited-edition and ultra-aged expressions of The GlenAllachie, as well as Meikle Tòir. --- Bridge Road Brewers has released a 3.4% version of its flagship pale ale, adding a mid-strength SKU in between the zero and full-strength Beechworth expressions. --- Beechworth Pale Mid was made using the same hops and malts as the original, but with the malts boosted a little to better match what has been Vitoria’s highest-rated beer in the GABS Hottest 100 poll over its past eight installments. --- "The idea is to give up nothing,” said James Dittko, Head Brewer. “You're taking out some of the alcohol, so you need to replace it with something else to carry the body and the mouthfeel. Same hops, same malts. We just boost the malt profile a little.” --- Bridge Road is supporting the launch with its largest marketing campaign to date, Worth it, centred around educating consumers on who actually owns beer companies in Australia. --- Italian aperitif brand Aperol has launched a collection of branded merchandise exclusively for the Australian market. ---

Same hops, same malts. We just boost the malt profile a little.” --- Dittko also attributed the beer’s quality to the Beechworth water, which he said “is so pure and so soft that we only ever have to add to it. --- “I'd argue we have access to some of the best water in the world to make beer. In a lot of metro regions you have to strip everything out first and then build the water profile back up. We already have an incredible foundation to work from." --- Bridge Road is supporting the launch with its largest marketing campaign to date, Worth it, centred around educating consumers on who actually owns beer companies in Australia. --- Running across out-of-home, digital and on- and off-premise throughout metro Melbourne and regional Victoria, the campaign draws attention to the two Japanese companies behind a majority of Australian beer, Asahi Beverages and Lion. --- Research commissioned by Norco found that 81 per cent of Australian grocery shoppers are buying foreign-owned products believing they are supporting Australian-owned brands, with two-thirds buying multiple foreign-owned brands under that assumption. More than half rely on the Australian Made logo to guide their choice, which certifies where something is made, not the company behind it. --- Bridge Road founder Ben Kraus said the media investment is giving a voice to Australian-owned independent beer, which accounts for 8 per cent share of beer sold but employs more than half of everyone working in Australian brewing. --- Kraus said: "The diversity and the interest in Australian beer over the last decade was built by independent brewers and that identity is quietly being washed away. Drinkers aren't told who owns what they're drinking and there's no requirement to disclose it, no labelling law that covers it. So we're saying it ourselves, as loudly as we can afford to. If we don't back ourselves in public, nobody else is going to.” --- Bridge Road Beechworth Pale Mid is launching nationally tomorrow Friday 25 September. --- Trade and ranging inquiries can be directed to brad@bridgeroadbrewers.com.au. ---

Yarra Yering has debuted a new five-wine collection under the Warramate label, marking a fresh chapter for the historic Yarra Valley vineyard site. --- The collection gives Warramate a clearer identity of its own, building upon the reputation of the vineyard first planted in 1970 and acquired by the partnership that owns Yarra Yering in 2011. --- Winemaker and General Manager Sarah Crowe said: “There is serious history and intent behind these wines, but we didn’t want the range itself to feel too serious. They’re bright, fresh and full of character - the sort of wines you want to open, pour and share.” --- The range comprises Sparkling, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah and Cabernets. Sparkling joins Warramate for the first time, while Cabernets includes the vineyard’s first crop of Cabernet Franc, fermented in amphora before becoming part of the final blend. --- The collection recently made a strong showing at the 2026 Yarra Valley Wine Show, where the 2024 Cabernets won the trophy for Best Blends of Cabernet and Associated Varieties, while Syrah and Pinot Noir received gold medals. --- The new Warramate collection is available nationwide now through distributor Pure Wine Co. ---
